  • What's not to like? This is a hot air balloon! I love the shape, the colors and the creativity of whoever designed this one.

  • A wonderful way to see the countryside, a hot air balloon over Somerset county New Jersey. Fortunately the blue sky and clouds make for a very nice background.

  • Apparently QuickCheck is a big corporate sponsor of hot air ballooning. This balloon has their name across it. I was fortunate to capture this shot while the pilot was firing the burner to go a bit higher.

  • Four people clearly enjoying themselves in the basket. I'm not sure how far they went or how high. Someday maybe I'll be able to do that!<br />

I've done this image in both color and black and white. The differences are remarkable. My family and friends are evenly divided as to which they prefer. Which do you like better?

  • Two of the QuickCheck balloons coming in for a landing. It is amazing the amount of skill and effort it takes to fly these. You can see one of the support vehicles waiting for the ballons to land.

  • Three balloons in flight. I can't remember if they were taking off or landing. One of the nice things about living in central New Jersey is that we get to see quite a few of these.

  • We were at the Appomattox Court House national park on a very hot September day. This gentleman was the character interpreter for the military governor immediately after the surrender. I'm scratching my head to remember the Captain's name. He did a wonderful job in character. We were advised to ask "may I capture your image" or "please strike a pose" because in the 1860s "may I take your picture" would have been taken to mean I wanted to steal something!

  • This barn is part of the restoration at the Appomattox national monument. We were there on a very hot day, but the light and surroundings were great.

I decided to process this to look like it might have at the time.
