  • A view of the Boston skyline from across the Charles in Cambridge. It was overcast when I took this shot. I was fortunate to get a beautiful variety of clouds and colors as part of this shot

  • I've loved this tree along the Charles River in Boston for as long as I've been going to Boston. In this shot, I have taken a few liberties to stylize it a bit. Thats Cambridge in the background.

  • A heavy traffic day for rowers on the Charles River in Boston. Just a moment earlier, it looked like a clean ride over to Cambridge. Suddenly here come the 8s!

  • What is the oarsman thinking as he looks across the Charles towards Cambridge? It was a perfect autumn morning in Boston, ideal for a turn at the oars.

  • I've loved this tree along the Charles River in Boston for as long as I've been going to Boston. In this shot, I have left the image as shot, aside from a few tweaks. That's Cambridge in the background.

  • Brent McCoy (Brent McCoy.com) performing outside Faneuil Hall in Boston. Notice the two "assistants" on either side of him steadying the ball he is standing on. Pay particular attention to their "headgear"! The little girl handing him the wrench is another volunteer. Brent is very talented, but the little girl made the show!

  • This shot outside Faneuil Hall in Boston, was taken just after its predecessor. Brent McCoy (BrentMcCoy.com) was performing with this little girl as a volunteer assistant. She was trying to catch the ball int he hard hat and just missed it.

  • What says Boston more than the iconic sign at Kenmore Square. This was shot on a clear bright autumn day. Lots of people are taking advantage of the weather to be sailing on the Charles.

  • Looking up from the Charles at the Hancock tower. I love how the sky is reflected in the side of the building.
    DSC_3944BWTZu-LR.tif
  • Looking to downtown Boston while walking along the Charles. Yes, there may be a bit of over processing on the sky but not much! It was one of those really beautiful clear days.

  • As the closing to Brent McCoy's performance (BrentMcCoy.com) he told his young volunteer assistant that if she could catch the dollar bills as he released them, she could keep them. The trick is such that it is almost impossible to catch them, but he let her keep them anyway. You can see how she felt about "her pay"

  • We were strolling around Faneuil Hall in Boston on a Saturday morning. Brian Stankus was performing and doing a wonderful job. He is definitely worth giving a listen (BrainStankus.com). I've shared the images I took with him.

  • One of the best known views in Boston, the sign in Kenmore Square. I've done several treatments on this in both color and black and white. I hope you find one you like.

  • One of the many snack vendors around Faneuil Hall in Boston. At that moment, they were not very busy. Bad for them, great for my shot!

  • One of the many snack vendors around Faneuil Hall in Boston. To me the fun thing about doing this in black and white is that if you ignore the prices, this could have been taken at almost any time in the last fifty or more years!

  • Looking east from the Washington Tower at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Watertown, MA. While visiting our daughter, we decided to tour this very interesting and historic cemetery. The tower is one of the highest points around offering incredible unobstructed views. <br />
<br />
This shot is looking a bit north from the heart of Boston. The two downtown towers are center. A bit to their right is the sign at Copley illuminated by the setting sun.

  • Outside Bigelow Chapel at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Watertown MA is this sphinx. At first I viewed it almost as a parody on the Egyptian original. <br />
<br />
Having done some more research I learned that the chapel is dedicated to all those who fell in the Civil War. The sphinx is part of that memorial. The inscription reads <br />
"American Union Preserved<br />
African Slavery Destroyed<br />
By the Uprising of a Great People<br />
by the Blood of Fallen Heroes"<br />
It is in English on one side and Latin on the other

  • Mount Auburn Cemetery in Watertown, MA dates back to before the Civil War. While touring this beautiful park, I saw this marker. It is sad in that it commemorates the deaths of three children. I was taken by the beauty of the stone, the details that have survived for over 150 years and the message of hope and faith it projects.

  • Bigelow Chapel at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Watertown, MA. This structure is a tribute to those who fell during the Civil War.<br />
<br />
It was getting late on a somewhat overcast day. The spires and stained glass stand out beautifully against the clods as they roll by.

  • Along Boston's Newbury Street. This gentleman is sweeping the steps up to his hat store. I thought that the hat boxes along the stairs make a very interesting accent in letting people know where the stairs lead. Of course, he is demonstrating his product the whole time with his bright red chapeau!
