  • Another view of the spectacular scenery in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. All the purples are there and natural from the heather. We had the "good fortune" to be in Ireland during some very turbulent weather, so we got wet a lot, but look at those clouds!

  • Descending almost to the sea approaching Cushendall, county Antrim, Northern Ireland. The cliffs are covered in Ireland's emerald green and seem to just drop off into the sea. This is a beautiful area, mostly rural with plenty of sheep grazing

  • We were driving along the coast road in Co Sligo, Ireland when we spotted this shipwreck. I don't know any more about this ship. This is my favorite rendering of this image. The black and white format adds a timeless feel and a touch of the heartbreak that this is how the ship ended up.

  • This is a natural rock sticking out from a hillside on the way down to the Giants Causeway in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. To me this rock looks like a Chinese lion's head. Can you see it?
    LIonRock_2449.tif
  • This little rock pile is just across from the base of the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare, Ireland. When we were there, the winds were howling. You can see how rough the seas were. This little rock pile caught my interest as it resisted all that wind.

  • The Burren in County Clare, Ireland is an incredible place. Everywhere there are rocks and outcroppings. It is a marvel of nature. You can see a typical (aka narrow and very windy) road in the foreground and the rocky landscape rising in the distance. We were there on an overcast and rainy day so the sky was kind enough to add some drama.
    Burren_2776-1u.tif
  • In the heart of CastleIsland, County Kerry, Ireland is this building. I love the colors. On the top floor is the town's library which was originally a Carnegie Library. We have a family member who was the librarian there for many years. I really like how rendering this image in black and white totally changes it giving it more of an aged and timeless feel.
    CastleIslandTownHall_3215BWu.tif
  • The geological marvel known as the Burren runs through several counties in Ireland. It seems to be a never ending array of stone that is dotted by a wide variety of very hardy plants.
    TheBurren_3062-1u.tif
  • Doonagore Castle in Doolan, County Clare, Ireland. We drove up a very steep and windy road to get to the plateau that ends at the Cliffs of Moher. As we ascended, the image of Doonagore got bigger and more prominent. I can only imagine how imposing it must have looked to an enemy trying to storm it.
    DoonagoreCastle_2871u.tif
  • The surf is pounding against the rocky shore in Doolan, County Clare, Ireland. The weather was especially rough that day. You can see how choppy the water is hand how high the waves are pounding against the shore. This is a stylized version of the image.

  • We were driving along the coast road in Co Sligo, Ireland when we spotted this shipwreck. I don't know any more about this ship. This treatment has been sharpened to give it a very realistic presentation

  • We were driving along the coast road in Co Sligo, Ireland when we spotted this shipwreck. I don't know any more about this ship. This treatment is very soft more of the feel of a painting.

  • An abandoned house outside of Sligo, County Sligo, Ireland. The configuration of the house and windows gives the impression that it has a face. Presenting this image in black and white gives it a very different feel.
    AbandonedHouseSligo_2693BWu.tif
  • The Giant's Causeway rises out of the water like the start of a paved path from the north of Ireland headed to Scotland. The stones are natural basalt.
    GiantsCauseway_2499BW-1u.tif
  • It's a long walk down to the Giants Causeway in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The coastline is rugged and the ocean looks to be endless!
    ToGiantsCauseway_2418-1u.tif
  • Slieve League is among the highest cliffs in Europe. We drove through some of the remotest countryside we found anywhere in Ireland on a very rainy day to get there. While the Cliffs of Mohr are all tourist developed, we couldn't get to see the ocean, just the back side with this lone lonely house.
    SlieveLeague_2621-1u.tif
  • The remains of Dunseverick Castle in county Antrim, Northern Ireland. This is all that remains of a once significant structure. Just to the left is the Giants' Causeway.
    DunseverickCastle_2391.tif
  • This is a natural rock sticking out from a hillside on the way down to the Giants Causeway in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. Yes, I took some liberties in making a more stylized version. To me this rock looks like a Chinese lion's head. Can you see it?

  • The Three Corners Pub in Brosna, County Kerry, Ireland. There is precious little else in Brosna other than a very pretty church. I was also amused at the cosmopolitan influence. They serve three brews, two Irish and one Dutch!
    ThreeCornersPub_3199BWu-LR.tif
  • Atop the Cliffs Of Moher in County Clare, Ireland is a farm! What amazed me was that this field is within 100 feet of the edge ofthe cliffs! I have no idea how old this equipment is or whether it is still used. I love how the black and white treatment creates a timeless feel for this image.
    FarmEquipment_2942BW-5u.tif
  • While not the tallest cliffs in Ireland, the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare are truly magnificent. We visited them on a serious bad weather day. You can see how rough the seas are at the base. While we were visiting, we got hit by lots of rain and very strong winds. The clouds here give you an idea of conditions that day.
    CliffsOfMoher_2913u.tif
  • This pier is in Doolan, County Clare, Ireland. At first sight, I chuckled at the sign. Seeing how rough the sea was, I quickly realized that when it's dark or there's a heavy fog, the end may not be so obvious!
    EndOfPier_2851BW3u.tif
  • This was taken on a very windy day in Doolan, County Clare, Ireland. All around this little bird, the surf was pounding and the waves chopping. He on the ohter hand doesn't seem to have a care in the world.

  • This is a natural rock sticking out from a hillside on the way down to the Giants Causeway in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. To me this rock looks like a Chinese lion's head, or maybe some creature from sci-fi. Can you see it?
    LionRock_2550.tif
  • These rocks are at the Giants Causeway in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. I don't know if they are a natural occurrence, but I really like how they look like some type of creature. In the bottom right is a bit of debris, just to complete the scene.
    StoneCreature_2482u.tif
  • St. Patrick's Cathedral sits In the heart of Dublin, Ireland. This covered archway connects the church to the other buildings that support it. It's wonderful to see how totally the very traditional aspects of this old city are merged with the modern.
    StPatricksArch_3261BWu.tif
  • We had been driving over hill and dale and detours in western Ireland when we came upon this cottage. It is about as traditional as it gets. The rood is thatch, the building is local stone.

  • An unusual mound in Cushendall, county Antrim, Northern Ireland. We couldn't get a good answer about this mound. It looks like many of the neolithic tombs we saw in other parts of the country.

  • As the song goes...In Dublin fair city, where the girls are so pretty, there lives a young lady named Molly Malone. This statue just sits on a street corner. The leprechaun and lad playing the pipes were fortunate additions. I wonder if she actually peddled her cockles and mussels on that street?

  • This is one of many celtic crosses in the churchyard in County Sligo where W. B. Yeats is buried. Yes I did a bunch of stylized processing, but in this case I really like the result.

  • The Burren is a unique area of Ireland. There are rocks everywhere and very little fertile soil. The plant life here is different from anywhere else in the country.
