    Hilton Head LIghthouse.tif
  • Dawn is just starting to break over the beach at Hilton Head. These wonderful pastels light up the sky while the dune grass just enjoys the view
    HiltonHeadSunrise4512.tif

    Fishing Off Hilton Head.tif

    HiltonHeadSunset4590.tif
  • The sky turns brilliant as the sun climbs up in the sky. The clouds out to sea create the image of structures rising out of the water.

  • I really love the irony of having an early steam ship being used to track the wind direction. Of course when that ship would have been built, steam power was one part of propulsion

  • DSC_4781u-LR.tif
  • This is one of those eclectic shops one finds when walking around Savannah. Black and white really gets to the essence.
    Something Different.tif
  • Earlier in the day, this was a spectacular sand castle. As the sand dried and the wind picked up, it was changed to this.I love the bands of color in the sky along with the big full moon. With nothing to give away size, this castle could be six inches or sixty feet tall!
    SandCastleAtNight4624.tif
  • I've always liked this shot. While it's nothing "special" it always gives me a feeling of calm and peace to view the grass growing out of the dunes.

Sand Castle After the Tide Came In.tif
  • I suspect every photographer has a few of these. The couple walking hand in hand along the beach at dusk...all is calm, quite and peaceful. The sky is painted with some beautiful colors to close the day.
    WalkAlongTheBeach4632u.tif
  • People seem to be a little more at ease on the beach. This couple is enjoying the colorful sunset. I think they were using a camera phone and didn't care that I was including them in the picture!

  • We were at the Appomattox Court House national park on a very hot September day. This gentleman was the character interpreter for the military governor immediately after the surrender. I'm scratching my head to remember the Captain's name. He did a wonderful job in character. We were advised to ask "may I capture your image" or "please strike a pose" because in the 1860s "may I take your picture" would have been taken to mean I wanted to steal something!

  • This is a bit of whimsey. I was out shooting when I noticed this contented little cat sitting in the snow. I love the snow cap on his head as well as the details in his face, to say nothing of that inscrutable expression.

  • It's still snowing. She's made some small movements to get a better look at something. I love how her head is cocked at a curious angle.
